As part of broader engagements with communities across the country the Honourable Minister of Human Settlements, Ms Lindiwe Sisulu will be hosting a youth opportunities expo in Sekhukhune, Limpopo on 09 June 2017.
The expo is a brainchild of the Sekhukhune District Municipality aimed at responding to lack of coherent and predictable channels through which various opportunity providers, across all sectors, can meaningfully interact with young people of Sekhukhune, Limpopo.

 

This annual event is organised in partnership with the Sekhukhune Chapter of South African Youth Chamber of Commerce and Industries, local municipalities of Sekhukhune District, Thaba Moshate Casino and Convention Resort, Sekhukhune Branch of Small Enterprise Development Agency (SEDA), the University of Mpumalanga and Sekhukhune TVET College.

 

A range of informative sessions will be held in the lead up to the event this includes Public Education Sessions targeting high school students, youth owned businesses and NGO’s.

  1. Public Education Session- Thursday,08 June 2017
    Venue: Thaba Moshate Casino & Conference Centre in Burgersfort
    Time: 10:00-12:00

 

  1. Exhibition & Seminar– Friday,09 June 2017
    Venue: Thaba Moshate Casino & Conference Centre in BurgersfortThe event is aimed to facilitate engagement between different categories of young people on opportunities content that correspond with their developmental needs, for example:

Age Category (15 – 20) School-going youth – focus is on CAREERS;

Age Category (18 – 25) Out-of-School Youth – focus is on CAREERS and ENTREPRENEURSHIP;

Age Category (25 – 35) Out-of–School at matured phase – focus is on ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT and FUNDING. This is the best approach to encourage young people to interact with content that is relevant to their life circumstances.

 

Activity 1: Career Expo 07:00 – 17:00

Activity 2: Youth in Business Seminar 10:00 – 16:00

Activity 3: High Level Panel Discussions 06:00 – 08:00

The NHBRC will be exhibiting career and training opportunities as well as consumer education for home builders and consumers alike via its mobile office unit.
