The National Home Builders Registration Council (NHBRC) members of council visited the Lerato Park housing project in Kimberley today as part of their oversight responsibility.

The purpose of the site inspection by NHBRC senior officials is to highlight the importance of regulation in the housing industry.

“We are visiting projects in order to ensure that our vision is applied and effectively communicated to our stakeholders through being visible in the communities that we serve,” said NHBRC Council Member Phetola Makgathe.

The Lerato Park housing project is currently under construction and will benefit thirty six military veterans in the area on completion.

Acting NHBRC Provincial Manager Lebogang Mponeng said the NHRBC irresponsibility is to assess each housing unit at various stages of construction in order to ensure that problems are identified early and rectified as soon as possible.

“We work very closely with contractors and builders to ensure that they comply to the building standards during this process in in order to mitigate against risks associated with building a new home,” he said.
