As part of efforts to skill housing inspectors and builders on home building guidelines and standards, the National Home Builder’s Registrations Council (NHBRC) is conducting an intensive two day workshop at the Birchwood Hotel starting on the 16th until 17th of March.

The workshop will focus on the recently released guidelines which were developed by the NHBRC in conjunction with the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS).

“The training is absolutely critical in order to for us to ensure that the new guidelines are adhered to on the ground,” said Dr Jeffrey Mahachi, Special Advisor at the NHBRC.

The guidelines are contained in a manual that provides a comprehensive outline of quality requirements for builders and home inspectors.

“An inspection and quality assurance of a house is at the core of our mandate. Also, the home inspection industry in South Africa is vital as an increasing number of housing consumers realise the importance of checking the quality of the building and housing workmanship,” added Mahachi.

This workshop is the first of several that will be conducted around the country and future dates will be published on the NHBRC website and social media platforms.
