Mpumalanga Brings Children to Work to Kick-start 2019

On Friday, 25th January 2019, NHBRC Mpumalanga opened its doors to a group of 12 bright-eyed and bushy-tailed learners from Emjindini High School.

The grade 11 learners, 6 females and 6 males, were chosen and invited to experience the culture, people and work-life at the NHBRC office for the day. This afforded the learners first-hand experience and insightful interactions with the various business units in the Nelspruit office.

Each interaction delved in on what each role within the organisation entails as well as what it would take for them (learners) to take up similar positions in the foreseeable future. This is in addition to being fully immersed into the mandate, role and services of the NHBRC.

The day spent shadowing NHBRC employees was, in essence, intended inspire the learners by exposing them to the real world of work in a way they would not ordinary have access to. In so doing, making their dreams and future plans more tangible.

Interventions of this nature are a practical step towards enabling learners to make a connection between what they learn at school and their future career goals.
