Witbank. The National Home Builders Registration Council (NHBRC) is hosting a two-day technical inspectorate workshop in Emalahleni, Mpumalanga with a focus on innovative building technologies from 15 to 16 September 2016. The multi-stakeholder workshop is being attended by inspectors from the NHBRC, Municipalities and the Provincial Department of Human Settlements.

NHBRC Mpumalanga Provincial Manager, Edwin Limba said the workshop is one of the platforms that the NHBRC uses to engage its other stakeholders to share ideas and forge an integrated approach to home inspection.

“This is the second time we host the workshop bringing together the NHBRC, Department of Human Settlements and the Municipalities and this year our focus on innovative building technologies and have invited various stakeholders who are major players in that space” added Limba

A number of interactive presentations on innovative building technologies and Light Steel Building, Developments and trends in IBT industry, Timber Construction in South Africa, steel roofing and Sustainable Habitat Products were done by Agrement SA, Institute for Timber Construction SA (ITC SA), SAFINTRA and Saint-Gobain Sub Saharan Africa.

“It is important for us to work together, following our workshop last year we visited a number of municipalities and have realised that an integrated approach to how we do inspections in the province is important” said Limba.

The NHBRC will continue to work with the stakeholders to strengthen the existing relationships.
